Why Albuquerque?

The answer is geography.

Albuquerque sits in the Rio Grande valley, surrounded by the Sandia Mountains to the east and the West Mesa to the west. The combination of elevation, terrain and the region's unique wind patterns creates conditions that make the sky here behave differently than almost anywhere else.

The result is a city where looking up is genuinely rewarding, whether or not a single balloon is in the air.

The Balloon Hunt is designed around that sky. The balloons are the main event. The city is the backdrop. The Sandia Mountains are always watching.
